ET: The national budget and church property.

The national budget of 1870 set aside ƒ7,000 for the management of ecclesiastical possessions, despite the fact that the state would be totally freed from any financial responsibility for the church properties on January 1 of that year (cf. 1869.02). The article condemns this measure as an irresponsible attempt by the minister of finance (cf. 1869.21) to favor his party in the church by preserving the centralized unity of the church.
